L'anilocre est un crustacé pouvant mesurer de un à trois centimètres de long ; couleur gris foncé .Présence de griffes , servant à ce parasite a se fixer sur les poissons dont il suce ensuite le sang . Il y a des cils vibratoirs près de l'abdothorax , qui servent de moyende locomotion au crustacé . La carapace est divisée en plusieurs lobes : carapace articulée , permettant un déplacement plus aisé lorsque ce parasite change d' "hôte".

Se nourrit du sang des poissons qu'il parasite , entrainant ainsi leur mort , sauf si le poisson réussit a se débarrasser du parasite en s'arrachant la peau en se frotant contre un rocher , auquel cas le parasite part aussitôt a la recherche d'une nouvelle proie .

est-ce une espèce courante en atlantique? j'en ai trouvé deux sur un lieu cet aprés-midi dans la baie de concarneau (finistère sud) je n'en avais jamais vu.
